your luck will find you
busy weeks past and ahead of me; i even forget to think this should normally be a time to take some two weeks off and hide away from the city, work & all this buzz. but as work and after-hours leave little time for extra thoughts, instead of thinking the impossible, i content myself with what's available.
on friday evening we planned to go for a czech cinema movie marathon but instead ended up in a vet clinic with a black furry cat wrapped in our picnic blanket. we were about to buy the tickes, when on our way to the cinema we found a young, fuzzy, undernourished black cat, begging for our attention in a totally winning and affectionate way. i guess i should write - he found us. after fifteen minutes of purring and dancing seducingly in front of us, asking us to stroke his back and rub his temples, he had us totally seduced. we agreed that he's obviously begging us for our help and no is not the answer, and so decided to take the cat to the vet to check his health and if the cat turns out to be healthy and in good condition, we'll transport him back to where we found him. otherwise, we'll take good care of him and find the creature a loving home. and so we did.
it turned out the cat has serious fever and some infection, plus is quite underfed and his ears, eyes and nose look poorly, plus he had his tail broken in the past and sports a cicatrized scar on his left arm. the vet confirmed the creature is about 6 months old, weights 2,30 kilo an is a 'he'. he got 3 injections for a start, some serious ears cleaning and for the night ended up at my parents', isolated from their own cat in a kitchen but still happy to get a comfy cat-pillow and nice food. on saturday he started getting better, but in the afternoon, at vet's, had high temperature again and looked really weak, esp. when the vet mentioned the possibility of panleukopenia. those 4 injections he got must have worked well, since today he was already much much better, even playful. at the clinic it turned out the fever was over, which is very good news, but still he got 3 injections and a drip against dehydration. tomorrow he should get his last shot of antibiotic and hopefully he will manage to get better soon.
currently he's still at my parents' - mum protests against having a second cat permanently, but i'm getting so fond of him (and so does kamil, i feel), that i wouldn't like to give him to any stranger. i guess if mum doesn't change her mind, me & kamil will have a third cat at home... ;) and since we still haven't found a proper name for him, exept for nicknames like "pirate" (the scar) or "squirrel" (the furry tail), any suggestions will be welcome.
